About JORGE ALFÉREZ

Some report trends. Others follow them. Jorge Alférez dismantles them, confronts them, and rewrites them.

He is not just a journalist documenting fashion, beauty, and culture; he is a disruptor, an architect of new narratives that challenge an industry too comfortable in its own history. For him, aesthetics are more than just a reflection of the present—they are a thermometer of social tensions, a battlefield where identity, power, and representation are constantly at play.

From his earliest publications, Jorge understood that journalism is not just a mirror of reality—it is a weapon to question it. With a sharp voice and a fearless approach to controversy, he has challenged imposed beauty standards, questioning not only who tells the stories, but who has been left out of them.

In a world where image still dictates a person’s worth, he dismantles empty rhetoric and rebuilds it with meaning. His work does not seek to decorate the conversation; it sets it on fire and watches what remains standing in the ashes. Every article is a statement of principles, every interview a manifesto, every analysis a challenge to complacency.

Jorge Alférez does not write to be approved. He writes to provoke, to empower, and to redefine what we once thought was unshakable.

How has your perception of beauty changed since taking on a leadership role, and how has this evolution influenced your professional decisions?

My perception of beauty has evolved significantly since I took on a leadership role. Today, I see beauty as an essential component of holistic well-being that encompasses both the physical and the mental. This perspective has led me to promote an inclusive narrative that encourages self-care and recognizes that beauty is for everyone, regardless of gender. In the professional realm, discussing beauty from a male perspective has been incredibly enriching, bringing much-needed diversity to a field that has traditionally been directed primarily at women.

What strategies do you use to balance external pressures about appearance with your personal values of beauty and authenticity?

My approach is based on recognizing myself as a unique being who does not need to conform to any stereotype. Everything I do in terms of beauty must be genuine, driven by my own holistic well-being, and not by fulfilling external expectations. When I look in the mirror, I see a reflection that is constantly growing, and it is this growth that allows me to maintain a balance between external pressures and my own values of authenticity.

What is the most significant lesson about beauty that you have applied in your life, and how has it shaped your approach to empowering others?

The most significant lesson I’ve learned is that beauty has multiple definitions, all of which are valid as long as they contribute to your happiness and well-being. This understanding has allowed me to adopt a more inclusive and empowering approach, encouraging others to find and define their own beauty in terms that are authentic to them.

How do you use your influence to redefine beauty in a way that empowers women and promotes authentic representation?

I use my influence primarily to challenge the taboos and stereotypes that still persist in the beauty industry. As a man specializing in this field, my goal is to motivate others to explore and experiment with their self-care, overcoming the fear of “what people might say” and the lack of knowledge. By promoting genderless beauty, I aim to open up dialogue and encourage authentic representation that empowers everyone.

What challenges have you faced in attempting to change the beauty narrative in your environment, and what were the keys to overcoming them?

One of the main challenges has been gaining a voice and the trust of people, demonstrating that a man can speak with authority about beauty and self-care. More broadly, I’ve also had to confront taboos and stereotypes simply for having a complete beauty routine. The key to overcoming these challenges has been persistence and supporting those who dare to break the mold, celebrating all the men who challenge norms and embrace a more inclusive vision of beauty.

How do you think beauty standards are evolving, and what role should the media play in shaping them?

I believe we are making progress in breaking down many stereotypes, promoting a culture of self-care and the freedom to live beauty in a personal way. However, I recognize that there is still a long way to go. The media should play a key role in education and information, fostering a culture of holistic well-being and respect for others, which will contribute to the continuous evolution of beauty standards.

How do you incorporate your personal values into your beauty rituals, and how does this influence your well-being?

Eye care holds a special significance for me. For a long time, I avoided eye contact out of insecurity, but today I consider my eyes to be one of my most expressive features. By taking care of this area with moisturizers and concealers, I reconnect with my strength and confidence, reminding myself of the progress I’ve made and the self-assurance I’ve gained in the process.
